ROSSIA is very pleased to announce the award of a Save America’s Treasures (SAT) grant to help stabilize the Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, one of Alaska’s most visited National Historic Landmarks.  Unfortunately this church faces several threats which require immediate attention.

Built in 1894, this unique church is located in Alaska’s capital city, Juneau.  Saint Nicholas is the only remaining Orthodox church with an octagon plan.

St. Sergious of Radonzeh is located in Chuathbaluk, Alaska along the Kuskokwim River.  The church was chosen by ROSSIA as one of the Top Ten to focus their efforts on for the role it plays in the local communities surrounding it.

This page is dedicated to Bill McGrew whose interest in the preservation of this church led to the founding of ROSSIA.  The Ascension of Our Lord Chapel is located in Karluk, Alaska on the northwest shore of Kodiak Island facing Shelikof Straight.  It is majestic example of the Orthodox churches in Alaska.
